We like to think we are invincible but accidents happen all the time so even if you are the safest driver, it is worth taking out personal injury protection. But because it is considered a no fault policy it covers the driver and anyone else in the vehicle, even if the driver was to blame, for medical bills, expenses and any lost earnings. Conditions like medical costs and even lost time form work can be part of your current health insurance plan which will save a considerable sum.
If this is the case, then you may need minimal amount of coverage or even none at all. Your driving record can also be a contributing factor when considering whether or not you actually require personal injury protection. What many drivers do not realize is that although they may be covered by their own health insurance for medical bills, other passengers, unless they are named on the policy, probably will not be. Personal injury protection will still be required if you find that other passengers are not covered or the level of cover is so low it is almost a waste of time.
Remember, the safety of a passenger in your car is always going to be your responsibility. For your own peace of mind you should want to make sure that even if your state does not make it mandatory to provide personal injury protection, you should feel obliged too. Your insurance policy costs can depend on many factors, including, age and current health conditions, both of which can lower your premium considerably. Younger drivers however, do not fair so well if they are inexperienced with little insurance cover in place but they are often in greater need of good health insurance cover to protect themselves and any family they have.
