Installing a undermount sink

1 January 2010

Posted by Argelia,

Undermount sinks generally require that the countertop be of a harder material, such as granite, due to the edges being exposed. These sinks are generally like the regular sinks in terms of their structure but what makes them distinguishable are their positioning in the kitchen platform. They are generally embedded in the kitchen platforms, featuring sink bowls fused to the underside of the counter. Installing one of these sinks should not be done with laminate counters but works well with solid surfacing, stone, or stainless steel. The main difference between stone and laminate counter tops is the way you fasten the clips that hold the sink in place.

  6. I find that the only difference between stone and acrylic counter tops is the way you fasten the clips that hold the sink in place. These undermount sinks can have faucets mounted that can be mounted on a ledge that sits inside the sink edge, or can be made separately from fixtures that are set into the counter.
