Countertop Water Filter
Posted by Seema,
When looking for an economical way to provide pure, clean water for your family, one of the best choices is a countertop water filter. For most water contaminants, an upright filter that sits on your counter is sufficient to provide clean water for your family for months.
Most of countertop filters have the ability to remove chlorine and chlorimine, heavy metals (including lead and mercury), VOC’s (volatile organic chemicals) and some pesticides. They ordinarily use a combination of activated charcoal and an electro-chemical process to remove the contaminants.
Installation is simple and easy and rarely tools are required. You just screw the diverting valve to your tap faucet and you are done. To operate, move the valve to either filtered or non-filtered water to suit your needs. Just be sure to change out the media according to the manufactures guidelines since after time bacteria can build up inside the filter

Has anyone bought an Everpure countertop filter? They seem to be really good but they cost a bunch. I was just wondering if they wer really worth the extra cost or if I could save myself a few bucks and go with another brand.
Wherever you buy one be sure you get one that is NSF certified. They really check out the manufacturers to be sure that they are making their filters up to the standards they advertise. NSF has a seal and it should be somewhere on the filter.
I bought an Aquasana countertop water filter and think its great. It doesn’t look all that bad either as long as I clean it up regularly. The water tastes sooo much better and I feel good about not ingesting all the chlorine and other stuff it takes out.
Good news! You can get a countertop RO filter. But be warned, they are ugly a sin! You can get one at Amazon.com for about $150. They can produce about 50 gallons per day so that should suit a good size family.
Countertop filters are just plain ugly and they get in the way. I had one back in the 1980′s and it was always in the way. I didn’t like the hose hanging off of the faucet either. I had to cable tie it to faucet and don’t you know that was lovely!
Does anybody know if they make reverse osmosis water filters for countertops? I just don’t want to have all that installation headache. I figure if I can buy one that I just have to hook up to the faucet I’d be a lot better off.
