Fighting Free Radicals

Today there is a lot of excitement in strength sports about antioxidants: the likes of beta carotene, vitamin C, vitamin E, and the minerals selenium, copper, zinc, and manganese. It is well known, and well publicized in many a muscle supplement review and guides such as Bodybuilding Revealed, that antioxidants are helpful in fighting “free radicals”, chemicals which are produced naturally by the body which cause irreversible damage – oxidation – to cells. Any free radical damage caused can leave the body vulnerable to advanced aging, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and degenerative diseases such as arthritis. Fortunately a well balanced diet can go some way to providing these antioxidants.
