To have an awareness of the elements and principles of design will allow you to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of other designers, and to spot trends and changes in the market.

Would you believe I have a coat for you that meets all those specs and is at Victoria’s Secret? It’s an A-line silhouette and following this year’s military cut, has an attention-getting stand up collar. In white or black, although I really like the white. Wool/nylon, polyester lining and sells for an unbelievable $99, down from the original $158.  Don’t you love these sales?  But this coat can match any of ‘em and rates as a first class fashionable winter coat, so run and get one before they’re all out of it.

Actually, the line up of all varieties of winter coats at Viccys is impressive right now and the prices are fabulous.

Wow! Another Christmas Party invite today. That makes five altogether.  All different but with interlocking guest lists so i can’t wear the same thing around and hope to get away with it. What to do?  What to do? I’m really not too optimistic about the Significant Other’s reaction to an indent for five new Christmas party dresses before Christmas. After all the recession is not over yet and things are hard all round. But there are some delicious items available if I hurry.  And that’s the point, I have to move and move fast to get all the choices made and the shipments delivered and validated in the flesh, so to speak! I love the places that support the new designers. Nordstrom’s has long been a favorite store of mine. Why? Well, not only do they have a good selection of the new clothes and stock appropriately on the established designers but they do give the emerging fashion designers a shot as well. Their Via C collections are the place to look. Another online retailer is shopbop who do a lot with the new designers. They have a continuing series called Lookbooks and they feature some of the newer design houses in those from time to time. It’s hard enough to keep abreast of things in the fashion industry so I use these two outlets for marketplace information.
